From The Forest of Fear, a book I read as a boy about
the tropical forests of South America, this single image
remains: a horse halfway across a piranha-infested river,
rearing up in terror, the flesh already stripped to the bone,
the original fast food.

mmmmmm.....delightful image right on bedtime.
Ditto pour moi and raise you one: from The Coral Island, a gigantic canoe sluicing into the ocean on a chute of writhing, bursting bodies.
(bit of a worry, isn't it, this tip-toe into the "compassionate tory" era....)
